Mahendra Singh Dhoni inducted into ICC Hall of Fame

The celebrated former Indian cricket captain, MS Dhoni, has been inducted into the ICC cricket Hall of Fame, a witness to his amazing 16-year international career. He collected 17,266 runs and 829 dismissals across the all formats of cricket, transforming the game. The wicketkeeper-batsman transformed the cricket through his distinctive playing style, planed leadership and achievements including winning all three ICC men’s white-ball titles as leader.

MS Dhoni told about his induction ” It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world. To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeting. It is something that I will cherish forever,”

Dhoni cricket journey started in 2004 when he made his ODI debut. However, he was dismissed for a duck in his first match, he soon reported his arrival with an intense 148 off 123 balls against Pakistan in April 2005 in Visakhapatnam.

Dhoni followed this with an unbeaten 183 against Sri Lanka in Jaipur, which was the highest individual score by a wicketkeeper in men’s ODIs. His innings including 15 fours and 10 sixes, which also held the record at that time of highest score in a successful run chase.

MS Dhoni was appointed captain for the inaugural ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007. He leaded the Indian team to a victory in the tournament, defeating Pakistan in a exciting final.

Dhoni Test career was also grand. Under his guidance, India achieved the Number 1 position in ICC Men’s Test Team Ranking for the first time in December 2009. In 2013 in Chennai, he scored highest Test score of 224 against Australia which helping India secure a determining victory.

In the ODI cricket, Dhoni becoming the fastest player to secure the No. 1 spot in ICC Men’s ODI batting Rankings in just his 40th match. He also have the record for highest stumpings (123) and highest matches as captain for India (200).

His retirement from international cricket in 2020 marked the end of an era in Indian cricket, leaving behind a legacy of unique achievements and revolution effect on the sport.
