Asia Cup 2025: Asia Cup 2025 updates; Ajit Agarkar -Led committee to pick squad soon

Ajit Agarkar led the selection committee is set to meet in Mumbai to conclude the list of players who will fly to UAE for the next month’s Asia Cup. While the T20I regulars are expected to make the cut, the likes of Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer Yashasvi Jaiswal have also played well in the recent IPL to merit a look. These three players has been busy with the Test series and hence not been part of T20 setup of India for some time now.

There is a big question over availability of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. A report claims the bowler, who has been fodder used in white-ball cricket by the management of Indian team recently, is available for selection.

In the August-September 2023, the last edition of the Asia Cup was played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka and in the final Rohit Sharma led Indian team crushed Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final to win the title for the record- extending eighth time.

There are eight teams taking part in the Asia Cup 2025 which are divided into two groups with four teams in each group.

  • Group A: India, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates and Oman
  • Group B: Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Afghanistan and Bangladesh
