Following Government’s decision to ban money-related fantasy platforms Indian cricketers set to lose INR 150-200 crores

IPL teams such as SRH, KKR, and LSG might also end their sponsorship deals with online gaming platforms following new regulations. Due to government’s new law on online gaming platforms, including My11Circle and Dream11 players could lose INR 150-200 crores combined, if their advertisement contracts are ended.

In Indian Cricket online gaming platforms are among the biggest wasters on endorsements and advertising. After signing a massive INR 358-crore deal with BCCI, Dream11 led the charge in 2023 to become the lead jersey sponsor for a three-year deal for the Indian cricket team, until March 2026. My11Circle, Mobile Premier League (MPL) and winzo are the other main players that spend heavily.

Due to mostly recently passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 of the Indian government, which effectively puts online gaming industry under rigid norms. The new law also finished to all forms of real-money contests on fantasy gaming platforms, which actually forms up to 90 percent of the revenue that is cause due to these platforms, like My11Circle and Dream11.

After BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia announced an end to Dream11’s contract with the Indian team, The new law also bans advertising these real-money online games. As expected these online gaming platforms would also finished their contracts with many Indian cricket players. With this Indian cricketers might lose close to INR 150-200 crores combined after losing this contracts.

Dream11 was associated with most number of cricket players including ODI captain of India Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya while Dhoni is associated with winzo and Virat Kohli associated with MPL.

My11Circle was associated with many former as well as current players including Test skipper Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Saurav Ganguly. Kohli could lose his MPL contract after new regulations came in effect.

Online gaming sector could face losses of up to INR 8,000-10,000 crores as per reports.
