Asia Cup 2025: India expected to play Asia Cup 2025 without Jersey sponsor after Dream11 exit

On 2nd September, the BCCI officially invited expressions of interest (EOI) from financier. There is a chance that Indian squad might have to play the Asia Cup with the absence a lead jersey sponsor, after current leaving by Dream11 from its agreement with the BCCI. Last month the fantasy sports platform finished its contract with the BCCI, only some days before the begin of the Asia Cup 2025 gripping the BCCI to begin the finding a new partner.

On 2nd September, the BCCI officially invited expressions of interest (EOI) from financier who are interested sponsors. Companies who are interested in jersey sponsor will have to buy the EOI document until 12 September 2025. The Asia Cup will starts from 9 September and completed on 28 September, making it doubtful that the new sponsor can be brought in before the tournament.

Recently Indian government bill that regulated online gaming, which prohibited real-money gaming the life of business of Dream11. Associating a section in the contract for withdrawal in case of such regulatory policies, the company informed the BCCI of exiting from agreement. Contract of Dream11, which has value about USD 44 million (INR 358 crore) and it was assumed to be till 2026.

Withdrawing half-way of a sponsor is not the first time that the BCCI has had to encounter. In year 2019 early smartphone company OPPO had terminated its contract, while ed-tech company BYJU’s took over briefly before Dream 11 came aboard in 2023.

As per new invitation of BCCI, companies which are related with alcohol, tobacco, betting, gambling, cryptocurrency or other service hurting public morals which also include pornography are kept out from placing bids.

The Indian squad will leave for the UAE on 4th September and play against UAE on 10th September and play against Pakistan on 14th September in Dubai in their group-stage matches. India will face against Oman on 19th September in Abu Dhabi.
