India Hot favourites of Shubman Gill for home tests against struggling West Indies

Roston Chase led West Indies cricket team, after injuries ruled out pace bowlers Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph have been forced into late changes ahead of the first Test in Ahmedabad. A home two-Test series beginning Thursday against a West Indies side struggling with injuries and a pale reflection of the team that once controlled cricket. The West Indies team have experienced years of decline and their T20 team entered a new low this week after a series defeat to non-Test playing nation Nepal. This year in the longest format of cricket the West Indies were swept 3-0 at home by Australia and were bowled out for 27 in the third match which was the second-lowest score in Test history.

Pace bowlers Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph have been replaced by the uncapped pair of seamer Johann Layne and left-arm quick Jediah Blades, who has played only white-ball cricket for the West Indies.

In an inexperienced attack, Jayden Seales of West Indies Team is the only pace bowler who has played more than 10 Tests.

In contrast, after securing a thrilling 2-2 draw in their five-Test series in England which finished in August, India are full of confidence.

The series which was first without Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and Rohit Sharma, who have all retired and was Shubman Gill’s first as India team captain.

The England tour of India was a personal victory for the new captain Shubman Gill, who scored 754 runs, which was most ever by an indian batsman in a series in England.

After a domestic season where he claimed 41 wickets, Pierre,34 told “I always want to do more… hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard,”
