As India captain, Shubman Gill scores 5th Test century in just 7th game in charge; India declare for 518/5

In Tests, the 129 not out is fifth best score of Shubman Gill, with his highest score being the 269 he scored against England in Birmingham. In fact, his top four knocks out of five in terms of runs come in the last few months.

As India captain, Shubman Gill scored his fifth Test century in just seven Tests after getting to the three-figure mark on Saturday in just 177 balls against West Indies at the New Delhi Test. Shubman Gill hit a six and 14 boundaries against the West Indies in the first innings of the second Test before the Indian team declared with the scoreboard reading 518/5.

When Shubman Gill chose to end the Indian innings, Gill was batting unbeaten on 129. The innings shored up his career average to 43.47 while his average as captain of India rose to 84.81.
