Batter of India Rinku Singh has left the T20 World Cup camp and returned home due to a family emergency. Sportslila has learnt that Khanchand Singh, his father has been admitted to a local hospital in Greater Noida in a serious condition.

On Monday, 23 February, a day after India clash of Super 8 with South Africa Rinku Singh travelled to Chennai with the Indian team. Sources said Sportslila that left-hander early on Tuesday morning left Chennai to attend his father, who is on ventilator.

At a crucial time of T20 World Cup 2026,Rinku Singh forced exit from the Indian Team. India in their first Super 8 match lost match from South Africa and now India are facing the warning of an early exit from the T20 World Cup 2026. India will play against Zimbabwe in their next match, who for qualify in the Super 8 downed former champions Australia and Sri Lanka in the group stage.

In the first Super 8 match, the Sikandar Raza-led Zimbabwe Team lost to the West Indies and in their next match will be looking to improve their record.

India can directly slot in Axar Patel for position of Rinku Singh in case of his unavailability for the match. In the match against South Africa, the Indian vice-captain did not play, a decision by the team management which was heavily criticized by fans and experts alike.

In the ongoing T20 World Cup, South Africa snapped 12-match unbeaten streak of India with a 76-run win in their Super 8 opener match in Ahmedabad. This defeat dealt a significant blow to India’s Net Run Rate, leaving the defending champions in danger of missing out on a semi-final spot. To keep India’s hopes of reaching the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final alive, they need to win both their remaining matches by big margins.
