When Santner finished a diving catch to dismiss Kartik Sharma in the 17th over, this incident took place. Santner was immediately seen clutching his left shoulder and later treated in the dugout, where he had an ice pack applied and his arm kept in a sling.
After losses in five matches out of seven matches, Mumbai Indians struggled thus far in the IPL 2026 with four points and a net run rate of -0.736.

WHO WAS REPLACEMENT OF MITCHELL SANTNER?
Mumbai Indians have signed South African left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj as a replacement for Mitchell Santner. Maharaj is one of South African’s most experienced spinners across formats and he is known for his control, accuracy, and ability to create sustained pressure. Since making his international debut in 2016, he has been a regular presence in the Proteas setup.
Impressively, without having played a single T20I, Maharaj was named in squad of South Africa for the T20 World Cup 2021. Later, he made his debut as captain versus Sri Lanka and by picking up a wicket with his very first delivery in the format made an immediate impact.
As a proven leader at both franchise and international levels, he has taken 31 wickets in his last 30 T20 matches. Recently, he was also part of the support staff of the South African women’s team that secured a 4-1 T20I series win over India of Harmanpreet Kaur.
