IPL 2026: CSK move to 6th after Chennai win, MI sink deeper after MI vs CSK

With a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians at the MA chidambaram Stadium on saturday in IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings returned to winning ways.

Chasing 160, in just 18.1 overs riding on unbeaten 67 of captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and fluent 54 not out of Kartik Sharma CSK reached the target.

The victory supported CSK move up to sixth spot in the points table of IPL 2026 with eight points from nine matches, overtaking Gujarat Titans on net run rate. Chennai Super Kings strengthened their playoff hopes heading into the second half of the league stage and also improved their NRR to +0.005.

With just four points, MI remain ninth in the standings and their NRR dropped again to -0.803, leaving Mumbai Indians, who is five-time champions staring at an early exit unless they produce a dramatic turnaround.

Ryan Rickelton chipped in with 37, but bowlers of Chennai Super Kings kept the pressure on throughout the whole innings. Anshul Kamboj impressed with figures of 3/32 while Noor Ahmed picked up two wickets.

In reply, CSK seal the match with 11 balls remaining with the help of an unbeaten 98-run stand of Gaikwad and Kartik Shama.
