In first year at CSK, Overton having found it difficult, he has been a revelation this season and told about the transformation. To tell Jamie Overton is an under-rated cricketer would be an understatement. The all-rounder has been silently playing starring roles in Chennai Super Kings IPL 2026 competition, like he did at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium here on Sunday (May 10, 2026) to sidetrack LSG after Josh Inglis had provided a flying start.

Overton, ever the team man, told after a superb spell of three for 36 to restrict LSG “I am playing the game for the team to win. I’m not really worried about what the team’s doing right.”

He told, “I’m just trying to keep doing the simple things really well. Today was my day and it was nice to get a few wickets and break that (opening) partnership (between Inglis and Mitchell Marsh).” when asked about his plans.

The crowns of LSG skipper Rishabh Pant and Inglis supported pull things back for CSK, which proved critical in the final analysis.

In Overton first year at CSK having found it difficult, he has been a revelation this IPL 2026 season and told about the transformation.

The Englishman told, reflecting on the reason for his success with the ball, having picked up 14 wickets so far “This time it sort of clicked nicely,” he told. “CSK is a phenomenal place to play for. Chennai is a great franchise to be involved with and it’s a real family vibe. And, last year, when I turned up, it felt like home straight away,”

Overton would like to keep holding his hand up as CSK continues its upward journey. He returned figures of three for 36 from his four overs.
