Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli are GT and RCB’s top scorers, respectively, this IPL 2026 season. Only two teams of IPL, CSK and MI have successfully defended their title. In the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday, defending Indian Premier League champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face former winners Gujarat Titans.

After storming into the final with a crushing 92-run win over Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1, Royal Challengers Bengaluru are chasing a second consecutive IPL title.

RCB posted 254/5 – the highest total in IPL playoff history, led by unbeaten 93 off 33 balls of Rajat Patidar – before bowling GT out for 162 in Dharamsala.

Rajat Patidar, who led RCB to their maiden IPL title in 2025, now has the opportunity to join Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni as the only captains to defend an IPL crown successfully.

Only two teams who are Chennai Super Kings (2010 and 2011) and Mumbai Indians (2019 and 2020) – have successfully defended the IPL title to date.

With 600 runs, Virat Kohli has once again been central to campaign of RCB and is the top scorer of team, while Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal have lead the middle order.

On the bowling front, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has anchored the line with 28 wickets with support from Rasikh Dar, Josh Hazlewood and Krunal Pandya.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans, bounced back emphatically from their Qualifier 1 loss by beating Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in Qualifier 2 to confirm their place in a third final of IPL.
