However, the other batters unable to support and India kept losing wickets in regular intervals and falling apart in the chase. In the last, India were bundled out for 148 as Ireland won the first-ever cricket match against India. Ireland go into the second T20I leading 1-0.
This match also marks the starting of the new regime under the guidance of Shreyas Iyer, who replaced World Cup-winning captain Suryakumar Yadav. Shreyas Iyer has been warming the bench, and many former cricketers and pundits have touted him as a deserving captain; now he has his opportunity.
