Paris Paralympics : India’s Dharambir won the gold while Pranav Soorma won the silver medal in the men’s club throw event in Paris Paralympics.India have won total 24 medals in Paris Paralympics so far.

India’s Dharambir has created history in the Paris Paralympics 2024 by securing gold medal while compatriot Pranav Soorma secured the silver Before In 2020 Paralympic Games India had won 19 medals that was highest before Paris Paralympics.After four fumbled attempts,the world championships bronze medallist from Sonepat,Dharambir throwed the club to a distance of 34.92m which was his fifth attempt to assert the top spot.

Regardless of this impressive performance, the 29-years-old Soorma who is from Faridabad was unable to surpass Dharambir, resulting in a one-two finish for India.

The F51 club throw event is organised for athletes who have movement affected to a high degree in the body legs and hands.All the participant compete while seated and rely on the shoulders and arm to create power.

First medal for India in the ongoing paralympics clinched by Avani Lekhara by winning the gold medal in the women’s 10-meter air rifle standing SH1 category.
