Most successful team of Indian Premier League Mumbai Indians welcomes back Sri Lankan star cricketer Mahela Jayawardene as Head Coach of the team on Sunday. Jayawardene was the part of Mumbai Indian from 2017 to 2022 during which Mumbai Indians won three IPL Championship.
Jayawardene told in a press release ” In 2017, the focus was on bringing together a talented group of individuals to play the best cricket ever and we did very well,”
Jayawardene added ” Now to return, at the same moment in history, where we look ahead at the future strengthen the love of Mumbai Indians, build on the vision of the owners, and continue to add to the history of Mumbai Indians, is an exciting challenge I am looking forward to,”
Former South African wicketkeeper cum batter Mark Boucher who had a two-year stint as Mumbai Indian’s head coach replaced by Mahela Jayawardene. In the 2023 edition, Mumbai Indians qualified for the knockouts, but undergo a poor run this year 2024, completing last with only four wins in 14 matches.
