Virat Kohli to captain RCB in IPL 2025?
According to report by sportslila, Virat Kohli is set to take over as the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from the Indian Premier League 2025 season. With Faf du Plessis turning 40, the franchise targets to address its leadership needs and build a squad for the future. As the retention deadline approaches and the mega auction draws near, Virat’s return to captaincy is expected to provide much -needed direction to the team.
This will mark Virat’s second stint as RCB captain. His last tenure, spanning from 2013to 2021, makes him one of the longest-serving leaders in Indian premier League history. He led the team in 143 matches-only MS Dhoni (226) and Rohit Sharma (158) have lead more IPL games. During his tenure, Royal Challengers Bangalore registered 66 wins, 70 losses, three ties, and four no-results, giving Kohli a win percentage of 46.15% and a win-loss ratio of 0.94.
Despite stellar individual performance, Virat Kohli could not lead RCB to an IPL title. His 2016 campaign remains historical as he scored a record-breaking 973 runs, the highest in a single IPL season. That year, Virat took RCB to the final, but the team lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
