A total of 7 cricketers from Ishan Kishan to Shreyas Iyer dropped from BCCI central contract List.The Board of control for cricket in India(BCCI) removes the cricketer who refused to comply with its directives requiring all centrally-contracted and A–team players who are fit to play and make themselves available for participation in the domestic cricket tournaments.
In BCCI central contract there is Notable changes and new entrants.Yuzvendra Chahal,Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara,Umesh Yadav and Deepak Hooda have been omitted altogether.The BCCI did not pay the amount for the four contract categories.
Captain Rohit Sharma and batsman who is versatile,generalist,jack of all trades that is Virat Kohli maintained their positions in the top tier of centrally-contracted players, while Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were omitted from the list for failing to adhere to the directive to participate in the Ranji Trophy,as announced by the BCCI during the unveiling of this year’s annual central contracts list on last week.
Players who got promoted
KL Rahul,Shubham Gill & Mohammed siraj have been transferred from Grade B to Grade A,and Kuldeep Yadav has also promoted from Grade C to Grade B. Making them the new entrants in the central contracts.
Players who got demoted
Rishabh Pant was in the A category last year 2023 demoted to Grade B in the latest contracts since not played any cricket due to his accident in December 2022.Axar Patel has been demoted from Grade A to Grade B in the central contact list.
New Entrants
On the basis of extraordinary performances in the ongoing Test series against England,Yashasvi Jaiswal earned first BCCI central contract as he found himself in Grade B.
There are many new names in the list.They are Rinku singh, Tilak Verma, Ruturaj Gaikwad,Shivam Dube,Ravi Bishnoi ,Jitesh Sharma,Mukesh kumar,Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan and Rajat Patidar in Grade C.
Shikhar Dhawan, Pujara Chahal dropped
There are some big names who have lost their contracts include Cheteshwar Pujara,Shikhar Dhawan,Umesh Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal who all have unable to impact on selector due to their poor recent performance.
Recently BCCI ordered the players to take part in the Ranji Trophy/domestic cricket during periods when they are not a part of national team.In a departure from the norms BCCI this time has not mentioned the remuneration of the players across the four categories.The categories are A+,A,B and C. A+ categories players normally get 7 crores per annum, 5 crores in A, 3 crores in B and 1 crores in C category, over the above their match fees.
