Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and pacer Renuka Singh Thakur have been rested for India in three-match ODI series against Ireland at home, BCCI announced on yesterday (06th January 2025).

Last month during the home series versus West Indies skipper Harmanpreet Kaur had suffered a knee injury, forcing Kaur to sit out of the last two T20Is before returning to play three ODIs.

In October 2024 in Dubai in the Women’s T20 World cup, the 35-year-old had sustained a neck injury. Lead pacer Renuka Singh Thakur was the player of the series in the one-dayers against the West Indies after taking 10 wickets from three matches.

Previously, a stress fracture on the back had disturbed her, so move to rest for her against series with Ireland could be to ease her workload.
