Due to swelling in Bumrah’s back following a long tour of Australia Jasprit Bumrah has advised bed rest at home. The future course of action and exact diagnosis will be decided once the swelling subsides. Jasprit’s return to cricket will be carefully handled to avoid annoying his back problems. Bumrah reached home last week after a long tour of Australia and the current situation does not seem very inspiring. While Bumrah will have to report to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, there is no date of his check-in yet.
A well-placed source told “Bumrah could go to the CoE next week but right now there is no fixed date yet. He has been advised bed rest at home to help the muscles recover and the swelling to subside. Once that is done, future course of action will be ascertained,”
The starting word is that It’s just swelling in the back and Bumrah will not be rushed back to cricket at this stage. Due to his history of back issues, the last thing stakeholders want is annoy it. There is no clear figure on his perfect diagnosis till now but it is something severe than just swelling, returning of him could take time.
“Bed rest does not sound good. I hope it is not a disc bulge or a muscle swelling which is of a higher grade. The approach has to be similar with him – wrap him in cotton wool and preserve the talent like him,” the source added.

According to former India strength and conditioning coach Ramji Srinivasan perceives the exact time of rest and recovery can only be ascertained after a thorough diagnosis. He explained further that it depends that it depends whether the swelling is in the muscle or on disc.
Srinivasan tells “Swelling happens if there is a tear because of edema formation – which depends on the grade of tear in the muscle. If it is a disc bulge or swelling then recovery also depends on grade, Individual capacity, medical intervention and post medical rehab work,”
Since in the squad selection for Champions Trophy few days left and to make changes in it in the list of 15 are allowed until 13th February 2025, his selection in squad remains to be seen that whether selectors include him in the list after watching his final report from the medical team.
