BCCI Naman Awards : Jasprit Bumrah, Smriti Mandhana titled best international cricketers

Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana received top honours at the BCCI awards in Mumbai on Saturday for their excellent 2024 performances. Bumrah’s extraordinary contributions, especially in the Tests and T20 World cup, earned him Best International Men’s Cricketer. Smriti Mandhana was beaten the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the year for her record-breaking runs and influencing presence in women’s cricket.

Bumrah, a right-arm fast bowler was awarded the Best International Men’s Cricketer at the BCCI Naman Awards 2025 on Saturday, following a year of extraordinary contributions across all formats.

His match-winning spells and 15 wickets in the T20 World cup supported India break a 17-year dry period, and his essential role in the victory earned Bumrah the player of the Tournament award.

With 71 wickets in 13 matches in Tests, second only to the legendary Kapil Dev in a single calendar year, Bumrah completed 2024 as the highest wicket-taker for India.

His unplayable deliveries and match-defining performances, especially during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where he completed as the highest wicket-taker with 31 crowns, solidified his reputation as world’s finest bowlers.

This was his third Polly Umrigar Award, Jasprit Bumrah continues to build on his legacy as a real power in International cricket.

Currently, he is nursing a back injury, but Bumrah is expected to play a pivotal role in India’s upcoming ICC Champions Trophy campaign in February 2025.

In Women’s cricket, Smriti Mandhana’s 2024 was nothing short of amazing.

Smriti Mandhana was crowned the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the year after amassing 743 runs, which included four centuries, which is a record for women’s cricket. Her performance with over 100 boundaries struck at an average of 57.86 and a strike rate of 95.15, made Smriti a standout performer in the 50-over format. Her consistency at the crease made her as one of the most dominant figures in international women’s cricket.
