CSK sign 17-year-old youngster as replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad; IPL displacement of Prithvi Shaw continues

Chennai Super Kings have decided to bring 17-year-old Mumbai opener in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad. The Chennai Super Kings(CSK), who is struggling in IPL 2025 season. As five-time champions CSK skipper was ruled out due to a hairline fracture on his elbow from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 edition.

Prithvi Shaw who went unsold in the IPL mega auction, and the injury to Ruturaj Gaikwad led to rumour mills working overtime.

Nevertheless,CSK, who is currently placing at the bottom of the points table, has narrowed in on a 17-year-old youngster as replacement of Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Earlier CSK have decided to bring Ayush Mhatre who is Mumbai opener as the replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad. Sources confirmed that the Ayush Mhatre would join the CSK squad for the remaining matches of the IPL 2025 season.

There is not enough time for Ayush Mhatre to reach to Lucknow for CSK’s next match against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025 season, but he will be available for selection for match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on 20th April, 2025.
