However, two years remains to go before the ODI World cup, talk that age catching up with the veteran batsman is gaining ground. The decision of BCCI on Rohit Sharma’s leadership will likely hinge on the outcome of the outcome of the Champions Trophy.

Sportslila reported, quoting sources, the BCCI may have a ‘tough discussion’ over future of Rohit Sharma future as Indian’s captain for ODIs and Tests. Last year after helping the team win the big tournament Rohit Sharma has retired from the T20 format.
World Cup wining Indian captain, Rohit Sharma faiths he still has some cricket left in him. The BCCI has inquired the Indian skipper to share his plans for the future.
A BCCI source said media, “Retiring is his call but there will be another discussion around continuing with captaincy , Rohit himself understands the need to have a stable captain if the team wants to prepare for a World Cup. There have been talks with Kohli too but there doesn’t seem to be much anxiety around him,”
After Champions Trophy BCCI to revisit annual contracts :
As per report it suggests that BCCI also wants to revisit its central contract after the Champions Trophy final finished. Specially, the BCCI may want to make changes to the Grade A+ contracts where Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja sit.
Earlier, The BCCI policy had indicated that players who perform in all three formats – Tests, ODI and T20I would be given preference for A+ contracts and with Rohit, Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja all retiring from T20I, there may be some issue within the Indian Cricket board.
