Ahead of 1st Test vs South Africa, India skipper Shubman Gill on verge of huge landmark

In Tests cricket, India captain Shubman Gill is 161 runs away from finishing the 3,000-run mark. Along with Shubman Gill, Indian stars KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja have some landmarks to unlock as they prepare for the first Test against South Africa at Eden Garden Kolkata from Friday onward. After a home series victory against West Indies and a draw against England at their courtyard by 2-2, Indian Cricket Team will be focusing to continue what has been a hopeful run in the ICC World Test Championship so far.

In Tests cricket, Shubman Gill is 161 runs away from finishing the 3,000-run mark. He scored 2,839 runs with an average of 43.01 along with 10 centuries and eight fifties in 39 Tests, with his best score of 269. In Tests,the captain is enjoying a purple patch this year, in 15 innings scoring 979 runs with an average of 69.92, with a strike rate of over 63, including five centuries and a fifty, with the best score of 269 runs.

Also, in Tests, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul are heading towards the 4,000 marks.

KL Rahul has made 3,985 runs with an average of 36.55, with 11 centuries and 20 fifties, with a best score of 199 in 65 Tests. This year, KL Rahul is enjoying a bright run of form as an opener this year. In the format this year is his best year with 745 runs in 15 innings with an average of 53.21 in eight Tests, with three centuries and three fifties and a best score of 137.

On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja has scored 3,990 runs with an average of 38.73 in 87 Tests, along with six centuries and 27 fifties and best score of 175*.This year he has scored 659 runs at an average of 82.37, with two centuries and five fifties in eight matches. He also has 338 Test wickets with an average of 25.21, just 12 wickets away from the milestone of 350 wickets and he could become the second Indian all-rounder after Kapil Dev who have a double of 4,000 Test runs and 350 wickets in Tests.
