Due to stomach infection, Abhishek Sharma has been hospitalised and remains doubtful for next match of India against Namibia in New Delhi. Even before the previous match versus USA, Abhishek Sharma was unwell, and his condition aggravated after he took the field in the T20 World Cup opener match on 7 February. He was running a high temperature in Mumbai and was administered drips for instant comfort.
On Tuesday, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the left-hander omitted the first training session of Indian Team. While from the Indian camp “upset stomach” is the official word, as he is suffering from an infection.
On Tuesday, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate told during a media interaction “Abhi (Abhishek) still has a few issues with his tummy. We are hopeful that he will be available for the game in two days’ time,”

In the T20 World Cup 2026 opener match vs USA, after being dismissed for a golden duck, the aggressive southpaw did not come out to field and was not spotted in the dressing room. For the entire innings, Sanju Samson fielded, forcing fielding coach T Dilip to handle drinks duties along with Kuldeep Yadav.
