Amid back-channel talks, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla responds to decision of Pakistan to boycott India in T20 World Cup 2026

Rajiv Shukla, BCCI vice-president rejected to comment on reports of PCB reconsidering its India boycott for the T20 World Cup 2026,telling the decision rests entirely with the ICC. The Pakistani government had given a clearance to the Pakistan Cricket Team for the World Cup in India and Sri Lanka; but it had instructed the Pakistan Cricket Team not to take the field against the India Cricket Team in their group clash at the R Premadasa stadium on February 15 in Colombo.

However, According to reports that a U-Turn of Pakistan is possible, as per some reports the match is seems to be played. Amidst all this, Rajeev Shukla, the BCCI vice-president has given his response, leaving the decision to the ICC.
When asked about the reported initiation by the PCB over reconsidering the India boycott, Shukla said reporters “I will not comment on these issues, nor will I make any comment from the BCCI side. Everything has been submitted to the ICC. We will abide by whatever decision or judgment the ICC makes. We have fully entrusted the matter to the ICC,”

For meeting with PCB, ICC officials in Lahore; BCB president also present

For talks with the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, ICC directors Imran Khwaja and Mubashir Usmani arrived in Lahore with president of Bangladesh Cricket Board Aminul Islam. All three met at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, in what can be possible solution to the deadlock.

According to report in Cricbuzz, which quoted unconfirmed information, the PCB has listed some demands. The PCB wishes an increase in share in the ICC revenue, wanting the bilateral cricket restoration with India, and also the implementation of the handshake policy. As the parties look for a resolution, the back-channel talks are underway.

According to India Today, with its established approach to sensitive issues, ICC is handling the situation in line, emphasizing engagement, precedent, and process rather than confrontation. Priorities of the governing body remain the integrity of the tournament, the interests of fans and stakeholders and the welfare of players.
