Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy: BCCI,ECB to rename India-England Test series

As like the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, the India-England Test series will also have constancy as both teams will play for the same silverware called the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, starting with India’s tour of England in 2025.

This development comes in the wake of both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) selecting to rename the two different trophies that both the teams India and England played for their respective nations.

Before this series When India toured England, they played for the Pataudi Trophy, named after former India skipper Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, whereas tour of England of India was for the Anthony de Mello Trophy, the trophy name on the man who founded the BCCI.

The two legend of cricket, James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar, on which name the Trophy has been renamed, will revealing of it, achievable during the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, which will be held between June 11 and June 15 at the iconic Lord’s in London between Australia and South Africa.

Before retiring in 2013, Sachin Tendulkar played 200 Tests while Anderson featured in 188 before retiring in year 2024.

Earlier in November 2024, Test series between England and New Zealand the ECB in co-operation’s with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) named this series after two legendary cricketers Martin Crowe of New Zealand and England’s Graham Tharpe.
