India put a tender to host the 2028 U-20 world Athletics Championships to aim the hosting the 2026 Olympics. The statement of intent was given to World Athletics supremo and International Olympic committee(IOC) presidential candidate Sebastian Coe, who visited the country last week. During the recent meeting between high -ranking officials, minister of Gujarat and Center, it was decided to aim a slew of international multi-disciplinary events and world-level tournaments across Olympic sports to help the state gain organizing experience for big events like Olympics.
In the agenda challenge posed by the weather in July and August in Gujarat were included. Due to this reason the preferred months to host an Olympics- recommendations to unwind norms for liquor permits, reaching out to some of the biggest hotel chains to set up their units in the state, and selecting global consultants to prepare a strong bid as well as drive the narrative in the international media.
When the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) officially submitted a Letter of Intent to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to host the 2036 Olympic Games, discussions between the central government and state took place.
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) did not name a preferred host city in its communication to the World body, Earlier Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said Ahmedabad is the choice of government to host the Games.
