15-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025 announced by the BCCI today with Suryakumar Yadav lead the squad and Shubman Gill his deputy. Unexpectedly, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer have not picked in the squad while right-arm fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, whose workload during the tour of England has been under discussion has found a spot in the squad.
Beyond the 15-members, there are five standbys with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Washington Sunder, Prasidh Krishna, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel.
Chief selector Ajit Agarkar told on their selections, “It’s very unfortunate for Yashasvi Jaiswal, with Abhishek doing well, he can bowl as well – one of the two was going to miss out – same with Shreyas, not his fault.”
On promotion of Shubman Gill to vice-captain, Ajit Agarkar told, “He has exceeded all our expectations.”
From September 9-28, The Asia Cup cricket tournament will going to play in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which featuring eight teams competing in T20I format. The Asian Cricket Council has fixed all match venues, with Dubai hosting 11 matches and Abu Dhabi hosting eight matches which including the Asia Cup opening match between Hong Kong and Afghanistan.
The Asia Cup tournament will have five full ACC members – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh – along with UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong split into two groups. Group A includes India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.

Matches will be played at neutral venues even India being the official host following an agreement between the BCCI and PCB. This agreement will continue for three years for any contest hosted in any countries either in India or Pakistan.
On 10th September 2025, India will start the tournament match against UAE in Dubai, followed by clash with Pakistan on 14th September, also in Dubai.
