Great cricketers like Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer could be a part of T20I squad of India for the Asia Cup 2025, but Sanju Samson and Axar Patel can lose key authorities, while inclusion of Jasprit Bumrah into the squad still not confirm. The squad of Indian team for Asia Cup is still far off but one of the biggest leaks has been that Shubman Gill, will be making a comeback to the T20I squad of Asia Cup 2025 as vice-captain.

India’s Asia Cup 2025 matches will start on 10 September against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dubai. Indian team are also scheduled to play against Pakistan on 14 September. The Indian team will play in Asia Cup 2025 under the leadership of T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, but team may get a new deputy.

Axar Patel was recently vice-captain in the Indian T20I side but Axar is set to lose out on that position to Shubman Gill due to leading India to a 2-2 draw in a five-match Test series against England away from home.

The Revsportz report told “With Suryakumar yadav set to be fit for the tournament, which will be played in T20 format this year, Gill is likely to deputise for him. This will not only mark Gill’s return to the T20I setup but also enhance his status as a growing leader in the Indian dressing room across formats,”

With the return of Gill to the T20I squad Sanju Samson could be opener who may pay a heavy price, along with Axar Patel losing his vice-captaincy role. Sai Sudharsan and Yashasvi Jaiswal are also available for the Asia cup who were part of the Test squad in England, but the decision depends on the BCCI selectors.
