Robin Uthappa has encouraged the Indian cricket team to avoid self-satisfaction as Indian cricket team begin their Asia Cup 2025 journey against UAE. He highlighted the need for team unity and alerted about dark horses as like Afghanistan creating a major problem.

As India start their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against the hosts United Arab Emirates, former cricketer Robin Uthappa has warned the Indian squad to guard against self-satisfaction and make sure they maintain intensity throughout the Asia Cup 2025.

While speaking on Sony Sports, winner of 2007 T20 World Cup noted that while Men in blue are clear favourites to raise the continental title, the danger lies in underrating opponents.

“I think complacency is a danger, so I’d make sure they take every game respectfully,” Uthappa told. “The quality of players is so good that sometimes you can take your foot off the pedal, thinking, ‘Listen, we’ll dominate, so you can relax.’ That is something they need to look out for.”

“They need to make sure the health of the team is really good,” he described. “In this unit, there may be two or three more guys who are going to be the key contenders for the World Cup next year. So you want everyone getting along, keeping the dressing room atmosphere light, but at the same time, playing for each other.”

“A team like Afghanistan, where the bowling is really good, can put pressure on them,” Uthappa concluded.

With words of Uthappa tinnitus, the Indian team will focus to balance confidence with caution as they kick-start their Asia Cup defence.
