Asia Cup 2025: Suryakumar Yadav required needs another week for full recovery; Hardik Pandya to undergo routine fitness assessment at NCA

T20I captain of India Suryakumar Yadav is not fully recovered yet from the sports hernia operation. He underwent operation in June in Munich. It is expected another week he will spend at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) under the observation of medical team and physios. Whereas, last month Shreyas Iyer had cleared his fitness test.

Ahead of India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad selection, Hardik Pandya will undergo a routine fitness assessment at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru on today and tomorrow. He has been training in Mumbai since mid-July. The 31-year-old star all-rounder had been a crucial part in white-ball success in the both T20 World cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025. In last few years Hardik Pandya has proof himself as an engine on which India’s white-ball team runs, and the team will be assembled on his all-round brilliance to win the Asia Cup, which will begin on 9th September.

Middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer had finished his fitness assessment between 27 July and 29 before Hardik Pandya. Shreyas Iyer who led Punjab Kings to the final of the IPL 2025 a year after guiding Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to winning their third title. Since December 2023 he has not played T20Is. Now it will be interesting to see whether selectors will give chance on experienced fighter.

T20I captain of team India Suryakumar Yadav is still not fully recover from the sports hernia surgery. He underwent for this surgery in June in Munich, Germany.

Suryakumar Yadav is assumed to spend another week at the NCA to regain full fitness under the guidance of medical team and physios. Suryakumar Yadav shared a video on Instagram before few days ago displaying his return to batting practice at the NCA, where he was also seen running and exercising to made his workload towards full fitness.

Suryakumar wrote in his Instagram post “Can’t wait to be back doing what I love,”

After Rohit Sharma retired from the T20I format following the World Cup T20 2024 triumph, under the guidance of Suryakumar Yadav India won 17 matches out of 22 matches.
