BCCI ALLOWED TO HELP AFGHANISTAN GROWTH:AFGHANISTAN TO HOST BANGLADESH FOR ODI,T20I MATCH SERIES IN GREATER NOIDA

At the Shahid Vijay Singh Pathak sports complex, Greater Noida for a white-ball series Afghanistan are set to host Bangladesh. Series have total three ODIs and three T20Is.It is schedule from 25 July to 6 August 2024.Bangladesh team will arrived to Greater Noida from New Delhi on 22 July 2024.Before their first ODI they are allowed for a couple of days of training. Greater Noida has served as a home ground for the Afghan team in 2017 also. Afghan team played the venue’s inaugural ODI against Ireland in that series.

This move comes after a period of disturbance for Afghanistan team following the Taliban takeover of the country in August 2021. They mainly played their home matches in the United Arab Emirates(UAE). Discussion between the Afghanistan cricket Board(ACB) and BCCI during the 2023 ODI World cup have covered the way for their return to India.

This is not first time Noida will serve as Afghanistan’s Home Venue

In December 2015 the Afghanistan cricket Board and BCCI signed a memorandum of understanding to use the Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik sports complex in Noida as their home ground. After that Afghanistan have played their home matches in the Greater Noida, Dehradun and the Ekana stadium in Lucknow.

During ongoing ICC T20 World cup they played superb cricket in the Group stage of the tournament winning three out of four matches. During super 8 stage they lost their first match to India by 47 runs, even they are hopefull of trying to finish in the top two and proceed to the elimination competitions of the T20 World cup 2024.
