New World Chess Champion D. Gukesh’s mother, Smt. J.Padmakumari, disclosed she could not control her tears after listen that her son won the title of world championship. As D. Gukesh had defeated Ding Liren to win the the world championship. With this achievement D. Gukesh became youngest Chess World Champion, breaking Kasparov’s record. D. Gukesh’s mother remembered Gukesh exceptional focus along with his dedication from a young age. Family of D. Gukesh sacrifices paved Gukesh’s success path even his father quit his career to hold up chess star.

Mother of the youngest Chess World Champion D. Gukesh, J. Padmakumari could not hold her emotions after her son defeated Chinese Chess Grandmaster Ding Liren to win the World Chess Championship title in Singapore on last Thursday. Too worried to follow the game live, Padmakumari stay away from her phone and her computer the whole day. It was not until 7 pm, when Gukesh’s aunt burst into the house with unbelievable news, that the gravity of the winning sank in.

With this achievement he became the Youngest Grand Master to win the World Chess Championship. 39-year-old record of Garry Kasparov was broken by the 18-year-old D. Gukesh after beating Ding 7.5-6.5. D. Gukesh said that after Anand lost to Carlsen 11 years ago, he set himself a goal of bringing back the title to our country India.

” I could not believe it and I cried for 10 minutes,” his mother Padmakumari told, swamped with joy, before taking a flight to meet her son. Padmakumari bounce back on the sacrifices the whole family made to support Gukesh’s journey. Her husband, Rajnikanth, gave up a gainful career as an ENT surgeon to go along with Gukesh to tournaments, On the side Padmakumari, a microbiologist, become the family’s sole breadwinner.

“This is a really happy moment for us, but it also reminds me of all the sacrifices, especially by Gukesh’s father,” Padmakumari shared. “Our extended family-grandparents, in-laws, sisters, and friends- all thrown in to support us. We are deeply grateful to them.”
