Paris Paralympics : India’s Dharambir won the gold while Pranav Soorma won the silver medal in the men’s club throw event in Paris Paralympics.India have won total 24 medals in Paris Paralympics so far.
India’s Dharambir has created history in the Paris Paralympics 2024 by securing gold medal while compatriot Pranav Soorma secured the silver Before In 2020 Paralympic Games India had won 19 medals that was highest before Paris Paralympics.After four fumbled attempts,the world championships bronze medallist from Sonepat,Dharambir throwed the club to a distance of 34.92m which was his fifth attempt to assert the top spot.
Soorma, who carried a spinal cord injury at 16 when a cement sheet fell on his head, launched a throw of 34.59 meters on his first attempt. Regardless of this impressive performance, the 29-years-old Soorma who is from Faridabad was unable to surpass Dharambir, resulting in a one-two finish for India.
Dharambir also faced a life-changing accident when a misjudged dive into a canal left him paralyzed from the waist down.
