As per the report, FIFA told Pakistan would stay suspended until the PFF congress made those alterations. PTI reported the International Football Federation (FIFA) on Friday suspended the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) following it failed to make alterations to its constitution that the global body considered necessary for smooth and just governance of the sport in the country.

According to the detail, FIFA told Pakistan would remain suspended until the PFF congress made those alterations.

“The PFF has been suspended with immediate effect due to its failure to adopt a revision of the PFF Constitution that would guarantee truly fair and democratic elections and thereby fulfill its obligations as mandated by FIFA as part of the ongoing normalization process of PFF,” FIFA told in a statement.

“The suspension will only be lifted subject to the PFF Congress approving the version of the PFF Constitution presented by FIFA and the AFC”

The Pakistan football has been run by a FIFA appointed Normalization Committee since 2019, that have worked with holding elections and cleaning up parallel groupings in the football set-up but it has struggled to run these plans properly.

Central concerns remain:

The Committee of Normalization heads and members have altered in the last five but in the Pakistan’s sport central issues still remain.

The Normalization Committee has been in disagreement with the state-run Pakistan Sports Board which has resulted a hold up in the amendments.

The PFF Normalization Committee Chairman Haroon Malik had notified a parliamentary panel earlier this week that 15th February will be the last day of his tenure and Pakistan risked suspension if it didn’t execute the constitutional revisions.

Malik also clarify that making the revisions didn’t mean that he will become a potential candidate in the elections of the country’s football governing body.

Malik told the PFF Congress was not willing to make the amendments as directed by FIFA leading to a stand-off.

Since year 2017, this is Pakistan Football Federation’s third suspension
