Contract of Kevin De Bruyne expires next year and according to British media he will move away from the Etihad. Future of Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne’s at the club is unclear with coach Pep Guardiola remaining diffident on whether the Belgian will sign an extension to his contract which is going to expire or not.
As city won for the first time in eight games on Wednesday in a 3-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest since the 33-year-old De Bruyne scored a goal and set up another. However, his contract will expire next year 2025 and British media reports recently that he moves away from Etihad.
Guardiola is hoping to have another powerful performance from the Kevin De Bruyne when they travel to crystal palace in the league on today.
Guardiola said reporters on Friday “I am not involved in (Contract discussions), I would like to have him 23-years-old and sign a contract for 10 years, this is what I had like, we will see.”
“There are players (for who) the impact on the legacy of this club will be eternal, will be forever. Of course it is not easy(to replace them), but as a club, we have to find in the moment, if its going to happen, we have to find the best way.”
De Bruyne’s fitness is the biggest issue around him, as Wednesday marked his first start in more than two months due to an abdominal injury.
Guardiola has another injuries to faced with as he confirmed that Nathan Ake will miss Today’s game. The Netherlands player has played eight games in all contesting this season due to pulled hamstring, and was helped off late in Wednesday’s victory with a fresh concern.
On the fitness of fellow defender Manuel Akanji who came off at halftime against Forest the manager was also waiting.
Guardiola has confirm that Mateo Kovacic and John Stones were not ready to rejoin for the four-time defending champion.
