Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has bowed the hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This now covers the way for the ICC to move the tournament out of Pakistan. The International Cricket Council (ICC) held a meeting associated to the Champions Trophy 2025.
As hybrid model was proposed to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), but PCB decided against it as they are strong it as they are strong on their posture to host whole tournament in Pakistan.
The ICC Champions Trophy has giving a different kind of challenge to the international Cricket Council, since both the Board of Control for cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have been involved in it and both have gone in opposite directions. Indian government did not given clearance to the BCCI to travel to Pakistan. The Indian body conveyed on the same message to the International Cricket Council (ICC), who then conveyed the same to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) didn’t agree with this decision and told to ICC to give BCCI a written explanation for their decision. Pakistan Cricket Board claimed that they want to host the whole ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in their grounds only completely.
This has also seen Sri Lanka A pulling out of their tour midway, and including India other countries have expressed their concerns over the same issue.
There is a very less chance that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 might be played out of Pakistan
There is a very less chance that the ICC Champions Trophy might be played out of Pakistan as Pakistan not agreeing to the hybrid model of Champions Trophy 2025. It also means that the Mohammad Rizwan- led team might pull out of the tournament, and the event will be played without the defending champions.
It is interesting to be know what will be the decision related to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in February-March next year 2025. After the meeting planed on the 29th November 2024 (Tomorrow), the ICC is all set to release the schedule of the Champions Trophy.
