In the first innings, after Shubman Gill scoring 269, he followed it up with a sensational 161 in the second inning. Along with him fifties from KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja supported India post 427 for six in their second innings before declaring the inning. Shubman Gill scored 269 in the first innings with another major knock of 161 off 162 balls with 13 fours and eight sixes. Rishabh Pant scored 65 off 58 balls with eight fours and three sixes and put on 110 runs with Gill for the fourth wicket.
England got off to a poor begin in the chase of 608 runs as England were reduced to 72 for 3 by stumps. Mohammed Siraj taken the wicket of Zak Crawley before Akash Deep sent Ben Duckett and Joe Root packing. On the day end Ollie Pope (24 not out ) and Harry Brook (15 not out) were on the crease.
