On Day 1 of the second Test against the West Indies at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved a mini milestone. In the second Test, Jaiswal scored a brilliant seventh Test century. With this century, the 23-year-old Jaiswal equalled record of former South Africa captain Graeme Smith for highest Test centuries (7) by an opener before turning 24. In red-ball cricket, his composed and confident innings once again showed why he is one of brightest talents of India.
In 50 innings, Smith made seven centuries, while Jaiswal reached this in 48 innings. Other than Smith and Jaiswal, only the greats, Don Bradman (12) and Sachin Tendulkar (11), had more centuries before they turned 24. This milestone of Jaiswal highlights his consistency and maturity at a young age. He has started his journey with a memorable 171 in his debut innings. Jaiswal then made two double hundreds against England, which showed his ability as a match-winner.
