Ahead of Champions Trophy, Virat Kohli and the Indian squad engaged in their first training session in Dubai. Regardless of an intense practice, Virat described his routine by arranging a post-session meal. Relating to a moment arose when a Hardik Pandya slash injured Rishabh Pant’s knee, but Pant continue to bat with determination.
About 15 minutes before the team bus was parked outside of the ICC Academy in Dubai, Virat Kohli went to the local manager for making some requests. The local manager patiently heard the Virat Kohli and walked to the main entrance. There was a big paper bag from a popular food joint which had some boxes of Virat’s post-session meal when he returned. While the other players packed their kit bags after intense training of more than three hours duration. Virat Kohli also saved box for the road.

After landing in Dubai on 15th February, it was the Indian Cricket team’s first hit ahead of the Champions Trophy and the side hit the ground less than 12 hours. The first training started with a unique drill where a tennis ball was hit way up into the air and a player, with the helmet on, had to rebound it off his head and one of the surrounding fielders were waiting to catch it to earn a point.Lots of game and fun later, serious business got underway.

Virat Kohli was one of the first batsman to scratch the crack crease and he had Skipper Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya for company in the adjacent nets. One of them had just throwdowns, other featured quicks Arshdeep Singh and Md. Shami while the corner-most was the spin net with Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel bowling. “Watch the ball, watch it, ball incoming,”the supporting staff their kept screech alert for the security personnel and the media near the ropes as the big hits didn’t stop.
Throughout the training session, intensity from both batsmen and bowlers didn’t drop an inch as Md. Shami and Arshdeep Singh bowled for close to an hour at full tilt, and the batters were at it even while taking turns on different surfaces. Gautam Gambhir, the head coach was stationed right behind the nets as action unfolded and there was a moment of concern after half day when Rishabh Pant was doing his wicket keeping drills.
