For the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa beginning November 14, Rishabh Pant has been named vice-captain of India, marking his much-anticipated return to red-ball cricket. However, Mohammed Shami has missed out once again, while pacer Akash Deep has gained a recall for the important home series. Two-test Red-ball series of India is about to begin against South Africa.

Rishabh Pant after successfully proving his fitness in the India A games against South Africa A, he is poised to make his comeback to the Test squad. During the England tour, the wicketkeeper-batter had suffered a foot fracture, which forcing him to miss the Asia Cup, West Indies Tests, and the Australia series. In the second innings of a 275-run chase for India A, Rishabh Pant underlined his return to form with a crucial 90-run knock. For the South Africa Test, he will be returning to his vice-captaincy duty with Shubman Gill leading the charge.

Team management of India on Sunday released spinner Kuldeep Yadav from the T20I squad in Australia so he could join the India A side for their second four-day match against South Africa A, beginning 6 November.

On the other hand, despite an impressive show in the Ranji Trophy, Mohammed Shami might miss out once again, as in recent times the current management has been preferring other options over him. It will be shock if Shami makes a return to the Test side.

For the moment, captain of South Africa Temba Bavuma is set to return to the Test squad for the upcoming two-match series against India next month, having recovered from a calf injury that sidelined him during the recent tour of Pakistan. 15-member squad of South Africa for the Tests will be leaded by Bavuma. The match between India and South Africa scheduled in Kolkata from November 14-18 and Guwahati from November 22-26. Bavuma replaces David Bedingham, who has been left out, while spinner Prenelan Subrayen is the other excluding player from the touring party.
