Former Indian cricketer and a cricket commentator Harbhajan Singh made a controversial comment comparing Jofra Archer to a ‘black taxi’ during an IPL 2025 match, causing backlash on social media. Jofra Archer had a forgetful record-breaking expensive performance, conceding 76 runs without a wicket against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 286 in the fixture.

As Harbhajan Singh faced criticism for giving a intolerant comment about England fast bowler bowler Jofra Archer during an IPL 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals.

The event occurred in the 18th over of the first innings when Jofra Archer was bowling to Sunrisers Hyderabad batters Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen. The disputed remark came after Klaasen hit consecutive boundaries against Archer.

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh in commentary told “London me Kaali taxi ka meter tez bhaagta hai, Aur yaha pe Archer sahab ka meter bhi tez bhaaga hai (In London the black cabs meter runs fast and here the meter of Archer runs fast),”

Archer had a difficult debut in IPL 2025, allowing 76 runs without any wickets versus Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In the whole IPL history this performance set a new record of most expensive bowling figures, be superior to Mohit Sharma’s previous record of 0/73 for Gujarat Titans against Delhi Capitals.

By scoring their fourth 250-plus total in T20 format of cricket, which set a new record for any team ahead of India and Surrey.

Sunrisers Hyderabad scored an impressive 286 for six against Rajasthan, falling just two runs short of breaking IPL record of 287/3 which is their own IPL record of 285/3, which they scored against Royal Challengers Bengaluru last year.

By scoring first IPL century of just 45 balls, Ishan Kishan played a pivotal role in the match.

Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a 44-run victory over Rajasthan Royals to start their campaign successfully.
