IPL 2025: After Gurjapneet Singh injury Dewald Brevis joins Chennai Super Kings

Dewald Brevis has played total 81 T20s and scored total of 1787 runs with a highest of 162; Dewald Brevis will join Chennai Super Kings for Rs. 2.2 crore. Chennai Super Kings on today (18th April 2025) announced the roping in of South African all-rounder Dewald Brevis, who is the mind-blowing young cricketer in the world,into their squad, replacing pacer Gurjapneet Singh who was injured for the remaining matches of the CSK in IPL 2025.

After making debut in year 2023, Brevis has played two T20 Internationals, has made a name in franchise tournaments in all over the world, including playing in the IPL,MLC,CPL, and SA20.

In the SA20 2025, Brevis was the sixth-highest run-scorer with 291 with a strike rate of 184.17, helping MI Cape Town victory their first title.

The IPL told in a media statement “Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed Dewald Brevis of South Africa as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025,”

In the year 2022 and 2024, the 21-year-old Dewald Brevis was previously part of Mumbai Indians, and he was played 10 matches. He has played total 81 T20s and scored 1787 runs with a highest of 162.

He is often referred to as ‘Baby AB’ for the similarity of his playing style and looks with the legendary AB de Villiers.
