Ahead of the IPL 2025 opener several IPL 2025 stars, including Jasprit Bumrah and Sanju Samson, await final fitness clearance from the NCA.

India’s biggest T20 cricket display, the Indian Premier League (IPL), is knocking on the door, and for the upcoming IPL 2025 season, several franchises have already started their preparations. However, before the IPL 2025 season start, many players who were under rehabilitation for their injury issues were yet to get their fitness clearance from Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy, also known as the Center of Excellence (COE).

Specially, name of premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been making headlines as uncertainty still persists over his injury status.

For IPL 2025 uncertainty prevails over Bumrah’s return

Along with Bumrah several other pace bowlers are awaiting for their final clearance, which will make them eligible to play in the upcoming IPL season. During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah was ruled out of the Sydney Test after his back injury resurfaced, for which Bumrah underwent surgery in year 2023.

As per Cricbuzz, Nitin Patel, who is the current Sports Science Chief has been personally overseeing Bumrah’s progress. It was also disclosed that the Bumrah will most likely receive the final clearance by the end of March 2025. But doubts for Jasprit Bumrah remain covered regarding his participation in IPL 2025 in the Mumbai Indians (MI) jersey.

Notably, Mumbai Indians are set to play their IPL season opener against 2023 IPL season Champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on 23th March 2025 at Chepauk. But in case of Bumrah report suggest that there is a chance Ahmedabad-born pacer may feature against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 31st March in Mumbai.

Sanju Samson gets partial clearance, Jurel to keep wickets if he misses out

Apart from Bumrah, the energetic wicketkeeper-batter and Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper, Sanju Samson, who was recently suffered from surgery of his finger fracture, has passed the fitness test for batting but still uncertain for wicketkeeping fitness. However, after some more fitness tests, he may join the team. If he fails to join RR on time, Dhruv Jurel is most likely to don the wicketkeeping gloves for the Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan Royals are set to play their tournament opener away from their home on 23th March against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
