Spinner of Lucknow Super Giants Digvesh Rathi made titles again for his celebratory send-off after dismissing Naman Dhir of MI. For the similar action, Rathi already paid fine, he repeated his aggressive celebration, directing to debate over potential further disciplinary action. In the consecutive games with two send-offs, behavior of Digvesh Rathi may prompt sterner consequences from the Indian Premier League.

LSG spinner Digvesh Rathi found himself in the headline again on yesterday- due to two reasons first his bowling and second for after dismissing MI’s batter Naman Dhir for his controversial send-off celebration at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Rathi clean bowled the in-form Naman Dhir in the ninth over of MI’s 204 chase who was terrifying to take the match away with a flaming 46 off 24 balls. But it was what followed that raised eyebrows – a intense farewell by Rathi that echoed his celebration from previous match of LSG against PBKS, for which Rathi had already been fined 25% of his match fees and handed one demerit points by the IPL.

Even with the prior punishment, Digvesh Rathi repeated the signal with no sign of self-control, unleashing the now ‘infamous’ paper celebration as Naman Dhir departed. The celebration moment was quickly picked up by fans of cricket and is now raising controversy over weather further disciplinary action will follow.

The IPL statement earlier had quoted a Level 1 breach under Article 2.5 (Related to “using language, action or gestures which disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction”), and Rathi had also accepted the punishment, his actions on Friday advise he is not backing down from his trademark aggressive.

With these two aggressive reactions in two match, the match referee and the league may have a bigger decision to make, as repeated breaches could lead to sterner consequences.
