In the second T20I against Australia, Abhishek Sharma was the only batter for India who showed some sort of a fight for his team at Melbourne Cricket Ground while the rest of the batting order was unable to score good. Abhishek shattered a 37-ball 68 as he continued his excellent form with the bat. In the second T20I, Abhishek Sharma and Josh Hazlewood were likely the only serious players who performed for their respective teams. In the five-match series, Australia took a 1-0 lead after the first T20 match was washed out.On a spicy wicket in Melbourne, Josh Hazlewood was making the Indian top-order’s life difficult, while in the meantime, Abhishek Sharma continued his thundering run of form from where he left off in the Asia Cup.

In just 37 deliveries Abhishek smashed eight fours and a couple of sixes on way to a well-compiled 68. With that knock, Abhishek Sharma broke the record for most sixes by a player for a full-member nation in a calendar year in T20Is, getting to 43 maximum for the year. In 2021, Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan hitted 42 sixes which is surpassed by Abhishek Sharma.

In the powerplay, Hazlewood bowled four on the trot and taken three wickets which destroy the Indian batting line-up and the Indian team were always playing catch-up. Abhishek attempted his best but was always going to run out of partners. Harshit Rana also did well by scoring a run-a-ball 35, but Indian team had to get anywhere near 140-150, he had to score a little more hostilely, to take the pressure off Abhishek, who didn’t get the strike for the longest time before the 18th over.
