Gautam Gambhir, India head coach keeps his aggressive winning mentality, demanding constant improvement from his team. Regardless of unbeaten run of India in the Champions Trophy 2025, Gambhir watches room for progress. Gambhir focused attention of playing out of comfort zones along with supporting players publicly, linking Indian team’s happiness with their on-field success. Gautam Gambhir focuses for a perfect game in pursuit of an ICC title.

Gautam Gambhir is in your face, never shies away from telling his mind over decisions and selections, hardly darts a question during media interactions and always has the game face on. He celebrates a censorious moment as animatedly as a player and that burning desire to win a cricket match is so evident even when he is comfortably seated out of the dressing room. The winning mindset which he proudly carried on his sleeve during playing days – Domestic, IPL and International- has continued.

With two World Cup titles, three IPL titles (two as player and one as mentor) and in his coaching CV, Gambhir is now just one win away from adding a maiden ICC title. In sport you either win or lose but for Gautam Gambhir it’s about wining, and only that. In the recent Test assignments the results haven’t gone his way and the tumultuous period did increase questions regarding his approach but even when the heat came his way, head coach continued to respond with fire.

The Indian Cricket team are unbeaten but coach still sees rooms for improvement and wants to make that environment in the dressing room too.
“See, In international sport, you want to keep improving. You don’t say that you have ticked all the boxes. There’s always room to improve. There’s always something to improve, be in batting, fielding, or bowling. And we still haven’t played a perfect game. We still have one more game to go. Hopefully we can play a perfect game. And that is the kind of person I am.”

While asking about India’s run the head coach told ” I will never be satisfied with the performances. We want to keep improving, We want to stay humble , we want to be ruthless on the cricket field but absolutely humble off the field as well. That’s the kind of team environment and that’s the kind of culture we want to create in that dressing room and be absolutely honest. So hopefully we can play one more game and play our best game,”.
