Ramiz Raja who was Former Pakistan cricket board chairman protects his post-match remarks to Shan Masood after Pakistan’s 2-1 Test series win over England. Raja clarifies his purpose was to explore how the team overcame recent struggles, not to belittle their achievement. Acknowledging to criticism, he highlights the impact of social media misinterpretations and asserts his respect for Masood’s captaincy.

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has addressed the controversy surrounding his post-match comments to Test team captain Shan Masood after Pakistan’s 2-1 Test series win over England.

Raja’s remarks, specially his question about Pakistan six consecutive losses, sparked criticism from fans and former players, including pacer Mohammad Amir, who called for respect and professionalism in his behavior.

The 62-year-old sparked controversy by making fun of skipper Shan Masood after Pakistan’s series win, asking, “Aapne 6 losses in a row kaise achieve kiya?” (How did you achieve six losses in a row?) instead of celebrating the victory.

Raja, talking on his YouTube channel, defended his line of questioning, stating that his intention was not to undermine the team’s achievement but to explore how they overcame recent struggles.

Raja said “I asked a couple of questions, and my goal was not to belittle anyone or cast Pakistan’s victory in a negative light. As a commentator, the more Pakistan wins, the more opportunities open up for all of us in the cricketing ecosystem,”

He released the backlash as part of the social media landscape, telling, “Pakistan Zinda hi social media pe hai” (Pakistan lives on social media).

He expressed disappointment with how people misinterpret his comments, adding, “If I lived my life based on social media narratives, I wouldn’t be in this field. There are many uninformed opinions from people who haven’t played cricket but act like experts.”

Raja also marked that he did not intend to question Shan Masood’s captaincy and expressed disbelief at how quickly the conversation twisted into controversy.

Ramiz Raja argued ” When Bangladesh won 2-0, I didn’t ask for anyone to be removed. Why would I question Shan’s captaincy after a series win?”

In July 2023, Virat Kohli last scored a Test century. He scored a Test century in 2023 as he played a knock of 121 against West Indies in port of Spain. After this Test right-handed batter has played six Tests, failing to go past the 50-run mark, on just occasions. In the ongoing Test series versus New Zealand, Virat Kohli’s form has become a big issue as he has been struggling against the turning ball. At Pune in the second Test Virat Kohli was dismissed by Mitchell Santner in both the innings, This was the first time when the batter was dismissed twice in a Test by a left-arm spinner.

One of the reasons behind India’s first home Test series loss since 2012 was Virat Kohli’s poor form. In the last four years, Virat has scored two Test centuries, and both of them came in 2023, one against Australia on a flat pitch in Ahmedabad and other Test against West Indies.

Former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has told that it is now a recurring pattern of Kohli being dismissed by spinners, and the right-handed batter needs to find solutions.

Dinesh Karthik told while speaking to cricbuzz ” Virat Kohli has not had it easy, the series has not been good to him, three out of four innings, he has disappointed. It is obviously a recurring pattern where spinners have troubled him, and I think he will go and figure out what he needs to do to come out stronger. He is a man, who is searching for answers. when you reach that level of genius and super stardom, you will be thrown challenges and here is another challenge. India likes to play on pitches that aids spin, what is his game plan?”

‘Should go back to domestic cricket’

Dinesh Karthik also said that Kohli should “probably go back to domestic cricket” in order to regain his mojo, that once made him the best batter in the world.

Dinesh Karthik said ” We all know what he is capable, this series was not meant to be. Like the fans have been saying, he has not done it for a long time and that we can’t run away from. We don’t want to sugarcoat it because we want to be as objective in assessing any player , any performance, at the moment Virat Kohli’s Test record in the last 2-3 years, has not been great against spin,”

“What we needs to do, is probably go back to domestic cricket and focus on what needs to be done with the current rules of DRS. There is no doubt the left arm spinners pose a big threat,” he added.

Warner’s lifetime leadership ban revoked by cricket Australia

The opening batsman, who retired from international cricket starting this year, was marked the ringleader of the plot to tamper with the ball in the third test versus South Africa in Cape Town six years ago.

cricket Australia(CA) told on Friday that The lifetime ban from holding leadership positions in Australia cricket forced on David Warner for his part in the 2018 ball-tampering scandal has been lifted.

The incident, dubbed ” sandpapergate” , traumatized the nation and team vice-captain Warner and captain Steve Smith were also banned by cricket Australia from elite cricket for a year, on the other side Cameron Bancroft was suspended for nine months from cricket Australia.

Although David Warner has never publicly explained his role in what happened at Newlands, he has since reconstruct his relationship with cricket Australia and applied to have his leadership ban revoked.

CA told an independent three-member review panel had without opposition decided that Warner met the criteria for the ban to be lifted.

Warner, 37 years old said he wants to play on in Twenty20 leagues for next next few years and lifting of the ban will allow him to lead his Big Bash League team, Sydney Thunder, as well as take up future coaching roles in the Australian game.

General Manager of Sydney Thunder Trent Copeland told the former was a possibility for the new BBL season, but the latter was probably more important to Warner.

Trent Copeland said to reporters in Sydney “This is far bigger than a cricket captaincy role.”

“This is leadership in a lifelong context, so any administrative role, any captaincy or coaching role in cricket.”

“This is about him, his daughters in particular, and the legacy he wants to leave for his family.”

The panel told in its decision “The respectful and contrite tone of his responses…led (us) to the unanimous view that he was sincere and genuine in acknowledging responsibility for the conduct and …. that he had extreme remorse,”

Decision to lift the ban welcomed by outgoing CA chief executive Nick Hockley.

He told in a statement that “In 2022 we updated the code of conduct to ensure there was a fair and rigorous process in place for all players and player support personnel to have long-term sanctions reviewed,”

“I am pleased David has chosen to have his sanction reviewed and that he will be eligible to take up leadership positions in Australian cricket this summer.”

WFI chief Sanjay Singh writes a letter to United World Wrestling (UWW) president Nenad Lalovic and told the Union Sports Ministry continued to interfere in the autonomy of the WFI

Citing to Government interference, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on Thursday withdrew Indian wrestlers from the upcoming World Championships in Tirana, Albania.

In a letter to president of United World Wrestling (UWW) Nenad Lalovic, WFI chief Sanjay Singh told that the Union Sports Ministry continued to interfere in the autonomy of the WFI and its act of decertify the WFI on 24th December last had been posing problems in the national federation’s smooth functioning.

Sanjay Singh said wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Satyawart Kadian, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik, the most prominent faces of the wrestler’s protest, ” want an administrator to run the WFI in place of an elected body ” and the Delhi High Court, based on the sports ministry’s de-recognition, directed the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to form an ad-hoc committee to execute the WFI.

“Though the IOA…supported the WFI, it is the Sports Ministry that is (sic) the problem creator because of their December 24 letter which is being used as a tool to get involved in the administration of the WFI by the wrestlers.”

Sanjay Singh highlighted that an October 4 court order restricted the WFI from holding selection trials for the Worlds, in non-Olympic weights, from 28th October to 31th October.

Nevertheless, if the situation became favourable, the WFI conducted a talent search and was willing to send meritorious athletes emerging from it to compete in Albania if the situation become favourable.

Sanjay told because of the sports Ministry order, which has been the base of the order passed by the high court, “We wish to withdraw any entries that were sent in advance for the World Championships” and pleaded the UWW to invoke Article 6.3 of its constitution, which tells UWW’s members “shall run their activities independently. They shall preserve their autonomy and oppose any political, religious or economic pressures.”

The WFI requested the UWW to forward its letter to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as a formal complain, “as the autonomy of the National Federations is severely being compromised due to constant interference by the sports Ministry (sic) so that sports Ministry can not get any privileges and support of the IOA in any future events of the IOC.”

Sanjay supposed that the wrestlers mentioned above, some of whom have recently filed another contempt petition in the court, “are adamant on getting the WFI suspended no matter what the cost is to all others.”

Excitingly, the WFI was able to field wrestlers in the happening World under-23 Championships in Tirana without any issues.
