Shreyas Iyer in first statement provides his crucial health update after near-fatal rib injury

During the third ODI against Australia, Shreyas Iyer suffered a laceration of the spleen. After the injury was found serious, he was admitted to the ICU, but prompt medical attention ensured that he was quickly out of danger.

In Shreyas Iyer’s first statement following a critical injury he picked up during the third ODI against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground, he provided a critical health update and thanked the fans for their love and support. During third ODI when Shreyas Iyer attempting a catch, he had a serious fall and suffered laceration of the spleen, which could have been serious if prompt medical awareness had not been provided.

Shreyas Iyer, after the fall looked in searching pain and managed to walk off the field, but as per reports who claimed that his vital signs dropped to critical levels after which he was taken to a hospital, where his tests determined internal bleeding. Iyer was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and after spent a few days before being declared out of danger.

Iyer wrote on Instagram “I’m currently in recovery process and getting better, every passing day. I’m deeply grateful to see all the kind wishes and support I’ve received – it truly means a lot. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts,”

BCCI stand upon one’s dignity for Shreyas Iyer

On Iyer’s injury, the BCCI was quick to react and ensured he got the best treatment. The BCCI released a statement and confirmed that the star player will stay under observation of the BCCI medical team. “Shreyash Iyer sustained a blunt injury to his abdomen, resulting in a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding on 25th October during the third ODI against Australia,” BCCI later disclosed in an official statement.

It added ” The injury was promptly identified, and the bleeding was immediately arrested. His condition is now stable, and he continues to be under observation. A repeat scan done on Tuesday, 28th October, has shown significant improvement, and Shreyas is on the road to recovery. The BCCI Medical Team, in consultation with specialists in Sydney and India, will continue to monitor his progress,”

According to report in Revsportz, the Indian batter is likely to be out for at least two months, which rules him out of the home series against South Africa, and possibly also against New Zealand in January.
