WPL 2025 : Smriti Mandhana wisely told that she needed to find a way to get runs off Ash Gardner. As Ash Gardner dismissed the Indian batter for the ninth time in Women’s T20Is.

Ash Gardner engraved her name in the books of record on yesterday despite Gujarat Giants loosed from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by six wickets in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). On 14th February 2025, Friday Ash Gardner dismissed Smriti Mandhana for the ninth time in Women’s T20s, which is most by any bowler, which is higher than Nat Sciver Brunt’s eight.

After RCB has target 202 at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, Gardner dismissed Smiriti Mandhana LBW, after that Gardner also taken wicket of Danni Wyatt-Hodge. Overall, Ash Gardner has got the vice-captain of India 15 times.

The RCB skipper said “I think I have to take her for runs, I think it is time now (laughs)” on asking of presenter that whether he would like to take Gardner out for dinner after the Australian spinner dismissed her yet another time in competitive cricket.

Praises for Richa, Perry

Smriti Mandhana was delighted after RCB recorded the most successful run-chase in the Women’s Premier League’s history. Ellyse Perry scored 56 to place the platform in the run-chase,after which 21 years old Richa Ghosh’s unbeaten 64 off 27 took RCB past the finish line.

After missing the last season Kanika Ahuja returned and lent Richa support with not out 30-run knock.

Mandhana told ” I am really happy that we were on the winning side. The way Richa and Pez (Perry) batted, it was amazing to watch. Brilliant to watch, they have been doing that in the nets. Really happy that things clicked,”

Mandhana added “After the first innings, we knew it would be tough to bowl, so always thought we were in the game. We lost the top three wicket-takers of last year, but luckily we had good options (Coming in),”

Mandhana’s RCB will be up against Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday, 17th February 2025 in Vadodara after taking down the Giants.
