At the T20 World Cup 2026,Super 8 campaign of India has run into teething issues. In Group 1, a heavy 76-run defeat to South Africa in Ahmedabad has put them under serious pressure. If India want to reach the semifinals, they can no longer afford any mistakes against West Indies and Zimbabwe who are in the same group.

After the West Indies pressed Zimbabwe by 107 runs, moving to the top of the group, the situation became tougher. South Africa takes second place in the group, while with India’s Net Run Rate taking a major hit, they have slipped to third place. Now the equation for India to enter in semifinal is simple. India must win both their balance matches to stay in the T20 World Cup 2026. Yet, India’s poor Net Run Rate could become a deciding factor. Meanwhile, coach of Zimbabwe Cricket Team Justin Sammons trusts India to come out aggressively in their next match but believes after learning tough lessons from their heavy defeat to the West Indies, his team will be better prepared.
